Howling Banshee by Narga Cosplay

It’s been a while since we last did a GW inspired cosplay post (just shy of two years to be exact) but with the Eldar taking centre stage in Gathering Storm II: Fracture of Biel-Tan, it was time to follow our past posts on Kosataya (Valhallan Guardswoman) and Khelga Khromaya (Russian style Space Marine) and do a post dedicated to Narga and her Dawn of War III inspired Howling Banshee.

Personally I think the costume is amazing and the composition of the photos captures what is both familiar but also at the same time totally alien, stunning work!

Got any more examples of GW inspired costumes? Let us know as we’d love to share them!

Review – Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Pre-Release thoughts

Some thoughts on the new Age of Sigmar. It’s all change in Warhammer and will make a totally new game!

Interesting times ahead for sure!

Guerrilla Miniature Games

Hey folks,

I don’t normally do this, but my chats, inboxes and basically any other form of communication are actually exploding with people asking my my thoughts about the spoilers for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar’s four pages of rules, which will be available with a baggie’d Stormcast Eternal this Saturday, July 4th at a friendly local gaming store near you. As usual, someone has gotten their hands on it early, scanned it and thrown it online for the masses to lose their minds over.

So having had a chance to go through the White Dwarf spread, I’ve formed some initial opinions.

The first one is, that given how short the description is, the rules are extremely functional and tight. This is the engine of a game. I’d argue you could boil a lot of rule-systems, when it comes to their core mechanics, down to this bare-bones a description. What the…

Experiemntal House Rules – Imperial Bunker and Webway Portal

A while ago our club members were chatting about the idea of creating data sheets for some of our terrain, as such I’ve created some experimental rules for them.

Here are the version 1 rules for our Eldar Webway Gate and Imperial Bunker.

Please let us know what you think by clicking on the below images, you’ll be taken to the PDF.

Webway Portal Imperial Bunker

These are currently the first edition of the rules and will most likely get tweaked after a bit of play testing, it’ll be good to get input from the wider gaming community (it should help with balance).

The Age of Sigmar or the End of Warhammer?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll have probably spotted the two images of the new Age of Sigmar game that broke today.

People are still not totally sure if this will be a replacement for WFB, the fabled 9th edition or if it’s a stand alone game. All we are sure is that it looks quite different and the models have round bases!

To me it has the look and feel of a small scale skirmish game such as (the much missed, in my opinion) Confrontaton from Rackham or Privatee Press’ Warmachine/Hoardes.

The initial responses ahve been polarising to say the least, some in the community love it, others are convined the sky is falling and this is the end. A number of people are looking at buying it just for the conversion potential!

For me, I’m going to wait to see what else is revealed over the coming days/weeks, although I can see myself potentially dipping my toe in the water, especially as there will be easy crossover with 40K thanks to the bases!

What do people think? Do you like the new direction that is being taken? Will you be giving it a try?

Let us know!

The Defence of Pandarus

“The Eldar struck just before dawn, appearing as if from nowhere in vast numbers. Before the local PDF could respond they had seized the Fortress of Redemption and the local mining complex. As fate would have it, the local garrison had just received shipment of a new complement of anti-aircraft guns from the nearby Squat refugee settlement.

Deployment

Deployment

A handful of Squats were still just outside the city gates preparing for departure, as the alarms went off, slowly they turned their ponderous vehicles about and prepared to engage the Eldar Raiders alongside the humans.

For hours the war raged. Casualties were horrendous on both sides. A graceful Eldar knight was brought to its knees, its spiritstone shattered by precision bombardment. A massive mushroom cloud heralded the launch of Squat rad bombs, and gave the orbiting defence platforms a target to fire at.

The mighty Avatar of Khaine himself was seen stalking the battlefield, wrecking tanks and troops alike until he was banished by the stalwart defenders. Two more Wraithknight stalked towards the Imperial lines, the Guard massed their fire, but could not fell the mighty spirit walkers. Defeat seemed inevitable…

Then, as suddenly as the attack started, the Eldar were gone. Whatever their purpose had been in attacking the city, no one can say, certainly they had taken nothing, and left carnage, but it is not the Eldar way to waste lives. No one had reported sightings of the Dark Eldar leaders, and several Squat mining teams had not appeared for their assigned duties. Were the two events connected?

What was the Eldar’s mysterious objective?

Was this all part of some larger plan as yet unclear to the Imperium?

These questions loomed large as the Squats and Humans counted their dead….” Continue reading

Valhallan Ice Warrior Cosplay by Kosataya

You may have seen a post of the page recently with a Russian style female Space Marine from Khelga Khromaya, well it looks like Russia has more than just Marines, it also has Imperial Guard in the form of Kosataya as a Valhallan Ice Warrior.

Both of these are examples of Cosplay (Costumed Play), basically it boils down to dressing/acting as a character you like. Having looked on Deviant Art it turns out there are loads of great examples where people have taken the imagery and style of Warhammer and 40K and made outfits of their own ranging from the humble Guardsman or Empire soldier all the way to Space Marine Terminators.
